Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) are member-based groups led by students and may center around a wide range of interests and fields of study. rso是正式的 recognized by the University and are conferred with privileges and benefits not offered to non-recognized groups.

To become an RSO at UNC, the organization must meet the following minimum standards:
- Comply with all UNC policies and regulations, as well as state, local, and federal

- “Recognized student organizations may not limit membership and participation in organizational activities based on race, religion, gender, age, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, military service, or political affiliation.” This statement extends to membership privileges, officer selection, and voting privileges.
- Registration and renewal of organization for each academic year on BearConnect.

UNC is legally unable to provide detailed information regarding specific conduct outcomes because of federal privacy 法律 (FERPA) and provisions for investigations contained in the Colorado Open Records Act. However, it is important to us to share brief context regarding each 暂停/unrecognized organization’s violation(s).
Some organizations that have been 暂停 or unrecognized, continue to operate as non-UNC, independent organizations.
Although UNC is unable to legally prevent students from joining or continuing active involvement with organizations that have been 暂停 by the University, students are strongly discouraged from doing so and should be aware of risks they may be taking through continued involvement. UNC students who are considering joining or maintaining membership in 暂停 or unrecognized organizations should investigate the organization, the circumstances surrounding the suspension or loss of recognition, and make an informed decision about whether the organization creates an unsafe environment.
